Care Camps Executive Director Visits Camp Quality Eastern Ontario

Care Camps Executive Director and owner of Cardinal/Ottawa South KOA, Karen McAndrew, recently visited Camp Quality Eastern Ontario in Lanark and wrote a beautiful story on her experience and trip there!

“I recently had the pleasure of visiting Camp Quality Eastern Ontario in Lanark which is about one and half hours from my campground. The camp is for one week each summer, held at Providence Point, a campground that they rent each year. The kids are housed in cottages as well as two large semi trailers that are brought in for the week.

This year Glen and Pam Mooney and their volunteer team hosted 49 children. Each child had a personal companion who is with them at all times during their stay. There is also a team of relief companions that spin off duties when the personal ones need a break. There are two nurses and one doctor on site during the camp. At one time Dr. Rick was a camper and now he returns each year, with his family, to volunteer his time to ensure the kids have a great stay.

I was there on the afternoon of their last night of camp and everyone was getting excited about dressing up for the costume ball and seeing the fireworks that are put on by the local fire department. The local community is heavily involved with the camp and donate everything from meals to golf carts, as well as lots of their time.”
