Generous 2013 Donors Boost KOA Care Camps Trust

Hundreds of generous individuals, KOA campgrounds, businesses and other organizations donated to KOA Care Camps in 2013.

The largest contributor is Howard Livingston, who gave $90,000 in 2013 and has donated a total of $286,311 over the years. Southeast Publications donated $30,707 for a lifetime total of $434,583. Okeechobee KOA donated $29,403 in 2013, bringing its lifetime gifts to $229,829. All three donors are recognized in the Diamond of KOA Care Camps level for donations of more than $25,001.

Four organizations are in the Platinum of KOA Care Camps level, with giving of $15,001 to $25,000. They are Cabela’s, Cardinal KOA, Santa Cruz KOA and St. Petersburg KOA.

The Titanium of KOA Care Camps level features seven donors with gifts of $10,001 to $15,000. They are Barrie KOA, Elkhart/Middlebury KOA, Gravenhurst KOA, Ivy Lea KOA, Newburgh/NY City North KOA, Sugarloaf KOA and Thunder Bay KOA.

At the Elite of KOA Care Camps level, $5,001 to $10,000, there were 17 donors. They include Allstate Enterprises LLC, Ashville West KOA, Astoria/Seaside KOA, Auto Marine, Inc., Chautauqua Lake KOA, Cookstown KOA, Copake KOA, Hinton Jasper KOA, Kingston KOA, Monroe County KOA 22105, Morgan Stanley Barney Smith Global Impact, Myrtle Beach KOA, Mystic KOA, Niagara Falls KOA, Pigeon Forge KOA, San Diego Metro KOA and South Padre Island KOA.

There were 68 donors in the Builders of KOA Care Camps level, $1,001 to $5,000; 50 donors in the Partners of KOA Care Camps (up to $1,000) and 229 contributors in the Friends of KOA Care Camps level (up to $500).
The Care Camps Trust was established in 1984 to sponsor KOA Care Camps for children living with cancer. In that first year, donations from campground owners and their campers totaled $7,100, and proceeds were divided among six Care Camps.

In 2013, the trust donated $550,000 to help operate camps in the U.S. and Canada that make a difference in the lives of thousands of kids. The 2014 expenditure is set at $800,000.
