PETER WARRICK/WAYNE MORRIS AWARD (2017)

This award is named for Peter Warrick, founder of Southeast Publications, and Wayne Morris, a longtime executive at the company. The KOA Owners Association created the award in 2013 in honor of Warrick, Morris and Southeast Publications, which has been a generous supporter of KOA Care Camps.

The award is given each year in recognition of Achievement and Growth in Care Camps participation and for outstanding effort in having the largest year over year increase in financial support to the Care Camps program for the entire KOA system.

This year’s award goes to the Gettysburg KOA for a year over year increase of $8,500 from 2016 to 2017.

The Bergerons, John, Lorelle and Simone are a giving family and big participants in the KOA Care Camp Program.   They do a great job of educating their camper base and getting others involved.

Lorelle will tell you that she isn’t good at asking people for money, but she doesn’t let that stop her from finding ways to make giving happen.  For nine years, she has been selling T-shirts to support KOA Care Camps.  This idea blossomed into a KOA Care Camp program where 18 campgrounds sold T-shirts for the kids this past year, visit this website.

Lorelle was fortunate to find a camper that has a special ability to melt the heart of her guests.  Since age 12, a young man named Dallas, has gone around the campground to educate, sell T-shirts, and collect raffle money as a mini ambassador.

Because of their fundraising efforts, the Bergeron Family, owners of the Gettysburg KOA, are this year’s recipient of the Peter Warrick and Wayne Morris Award.
